In 2023, the Creative Academy proudly celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Hands-on experience is at the heart of the programme, with students benefitting from working on real-life design projects coached by Richemont Maisons' Creative Directors.Ĭonceived as a bridge between theory and professional practice, the mission of Creative Academy is to offer our students the know-how they need to respond to the constantly evolving demands of the luxury sector. The Master lasts ten months, seven months at Creative Academy in Milan (January-July), followed by a three-month internship granted to the most deserving students in one of the Richemont Maisons design studios (September-November). Taught by leading experts in the world of luxury product design, the Academy is a creative laboratory uniquely enriched by a faculty of renowned professionals, Richemont CEOs and Creative Directors from Richemont Maisons. Each year twenty of the world’s most promising design students from the best schools around the world are selected to complete a Master of Arts in Design and Applied Arts. The Combined Intermediate/Final Grade is a specialist course in clock or watch repair, restoration and conservation.īoth courses prepare for nationally accredited examinations.Founded in 2003, Creative Academy is Richemont’s corporate school that selects, nurtures and prepares young creative talents for the design of luxury jewellery, watches and fashion accessories. Topics include a brief history of timekeeping, servicing clocks and watches, timing machines, water protection, clock escapements, basic electrical theory, workshop equipment, small hand tools, lathe work and soldering in practice. There are 12 lessons, each one concluding with a set of questions and a small practical exercise. The first course, the Technician Grade, is an introduction to horology. They teach best practice and our professional tutors assess work to examination standard. Our home study courses provide an excellent source of reference material. distance learning courses leading to accredited qualifications – The Technician Grade (Level 3) and the Combined Intermediate/Final Grade (Levels 4/5) You work directly with an expert in the field and get personal attention as well as useful tips. You can book overnight accommodation on site and have breakfast and lunch in the Clock House Café. This is also the home of an unrivalled collection of historical and modern clocks and watches, a horological library and valuable archives. Our short courses take place in Upton Hall in Nottinghamshire, in workshops with professional tools, machines and equipment.
